How do you cut metal roofing?
Metal roofing panels can be cut several ways. For clean, straight cuts, tin snips (for short runs), electric or cordless metal shears, or a nibbler give the best edge and do not overheat the coating. A circular saw with a metal-cutting blade is faster for many panels but throws hot sparks and metal filings.
Avoid an abrasive grinder wheel where you can: the heat discolors the finish and the filings rust on the surface if not brushed off. Always sweep panels clean after cutting, wear eye and hand protection, and protect the painted face.
Seal or touch up cut edges on painted panels to prevent corrosion.
