Wind Mitigation Inspection Cost.
Wind mitigation inspection cost: see what Florida inspectors charge in 2026, and what the records show for your roof before you book. Type your address. Free, no signup.
The partner inspector confirms the fee for your house at booking, and this site posts no inspection prices. The records side costs nothing: the design wind speed, roof material and roof age on file for the address.
What the inspection fee pays for.
You pay for one document: OIR-B1-1802, the state wind form, filled in and signed by a qualified inspector who has seen the house.
Your insurer applies wind credits from that signed form. A records lookup cannot sign it for you.
- Roof shape. The inspector notes the geometry. Hip roofs outscore gable roofs on this line.
- Attachments. Deck fastening and the roof-to-wall connection get checked in person.
- Opening protection. Protected windows and doors count as a separate feature on the form.

These records line up with features the inspector will score.
Build year
Houses built under the 2002 Florida Building Code, or a newer edition, usually qualify for credits.
Roof covering
The report names the material and dates it from the permit, or marks the age as estimated.
Design wind speed
The wind load the address was designed for, taken from public records.
Storm history
Named hurricanes and tropical systems on record near the house.
Older homes and the wind credit.
Pre-2002 homes often reach the credits with modest retrofits, and the form is how your insurer learns about them.
If the retrofit involves the roof, request a quote through the estimator first. The request goes to partner Florida roofers.
Book the inspection once that work is finished. The form then records the roof as it stands today.
Common questions.
This site does not publish inspection prices. The partner inspector confirms the price for your home when you book, before anyone comes out to the house. The free roof report lets you judge the visit first, with the design wind speed, roof material and roof age already on record for the address.
A qualified inspector has to complete OIR-B1-1802 before your insurer will apply any wind credit to the policy. Your own notes, photos or an online records report cannot take its place. The roof report is a free first look at the records that inspector later confirms in person.
Roof geometry is one of seven features on the state form, and a hip roof scores better there than a gable roof. A gable house can still earn credit from other lines, such as how the deck is fastened, the connection between roof and walls, and protected openings.
If the shingles are close to worn out, replacing them first lets the form record the new covering instead of the old one. Asphalt shingle in Florida typically lasts about 15 to 20 years. The estimator takes the roof measurements from aerial imagery and returns an installed-cost range, free and with no signup.
The wind form leaves plumbing and electrical out; it scores features tied to wind resistance, from roof covering and roof geometry to secondary water resistance. Plumbing, electrical and HVAC belong to a 4-point inspection, which looks at four systems with the roof among them. The roof shows up on both forms, read for different things.
